Celebrating Independence Day with Addy: A Fun Senior Photo Session

Meet Addy, a soon-to-be senior at Salmon Junior-Senior High School, Class of 2025. Recently, we got together for a "just for fun" photo session, embracing the spirit of the Fourth of July. Addy was initially unsure if she had any red, white, and blue outfits, but she arrived with a fabulous selection of five different outfits, all perfectly themed.

I always encourage senior clients to bring multiple outfits. It not only eases any pre-session nerves but also sparks creativity with new combinations. Senior sessions are a blast for me. Guiding my clients through different poses and movements is one of the highlights of being a photographer.

This was Addy's first professional photo shoot, and she admitted she was a bit nervous, which is completely normal. Despite living in a camera-centric world filled with selfies and snapshots, trusting a professional to capture your best angles can feel intimidating.

Throughout the session, I guided Addy through various poses and suggested different ideas. There were moments when she questioned my direction, but those candid reactions turned out to be some of my favorite shots. Check out the photo at the bottom with her hand raised – she thought I was a bit crazy for suggesting it, but it turned out wonderfully. Often, the poses that feel the most awkward result in the most natural-looking photos. It's the stiff, forced smiles that tend to look out of place.

Addy did an amazing job. Her smiles were genuine, and her energy was infectious. I ended up with an abundance of great photos, more than I’ve ever delivered from a single model call session.
