Clayton Salmon High School Senior

Spending time with Clayton for his senior session was one of those shoots that just came together effortlessly and truly did not disappoint.

Clayton wanted to keep his session simple: he wanted his truck and a bridge. And honestly, that’s all it takes sometimes. Give me a vision like that, and as a Salmon Idaho Photographer, I know exactly how to bring it to life. What we ended up with? Some incredible images of his truck paired with one of the best bridges in Lemhi County. It was the perfect combination of rugged, personal, and completely him.

We headed down Highway 93 South, one of my favorite areas to shoot as an Idaho Senior Photographer. There’s just something about that stretch, the open space, the textures, the way the light hits, that always creates magic. We spent time wandering, stopping where the scenery felt right, and letting the session unfold naturally. Those are always the best sessions, the ones that don’t feel forced.

Clayton came prepared, and that always makes such a difference. He brought along a few different looks that really showcased his personality. From his letterman jacket (which added that perfect edge), to his football jersey (highlighting an important part of his high school years), and then finishing strong with some classic portraits in his cowboy hat, it all told his story in such an authentic way.

One of the highlights of the session was taking photos down by the Salmon River. If you know me, you know I love incorporating our local landscapes whenever possible. Being able to include the river not only added variety to his gallery but also tied his session back to home. It’s those little details that make senior photos feel meaningful years down the road.

Clayton is a senior at Salmon Junior-Senior High School, part of the Class of 2026, and he’s already looking ahead to his future. After graduation, he plans to go into welding, which I think is such an awesome and solid path. I always love getting to hear what my seniors are planning, it adds another layer of connection to the session and reminds me that these photos are capturing such a pivotal moment in their lives.

Now let’s be real for a second, photographing teenage boys can sometimes be a bit of a balance. They’re not always thrilled about taking photos, and that’s okay. I expect that going into sessions. My approach as an Senior Photographer is simple: we focus on what they want. We incorporate their interests, their style, and the things that make them feel comfortable. And every single time, once they realize it’s not stiff or overly posed, they start to loosen up. That’s exactly what happened with Clayton. By the end of the session, it felt easy, natural, and honestly,  fun.

And if you’re a 2026 senior (or a parent of one), this is your reminder: it is not too late to get your senior photos taken. Whether you want something laid-back like Clayton’s session or something a little more styled, I’m here to help bring your vision to life.

As a Salmon Idaho Photographer, getting to document these moments for local seniors is something I don’t take lightly. These photos become keepsakes for years to come, and I’m so grateful to be a part of that.
