Hannah & Andrew, A Relaxed Summer Wedding at the Sacajawea Center

There are weddings that feel grand and elaborate, and then there are weddings that remind you how beautiful it can be to simply gather the people you love in one place and celebrate. Hannah and Andrew’s wedding at the Sacajawea Center was exactly that, relaxed, meaningful, incredibly beautiful and filled with the kind of love that comes from being surrounded by family, friends and the friends who have long since become family.

And honestly, the Sacajawea Center is one of those places that doesn’t need much help being beautiful. The views speak for themselves. With the mountains surrounding the property, wide open spaces and that unmistakable Salmon, Idaho scenery, it created such a peaceful backdrop for their summer wedding.

Hannah and Andrew exchanged vows inside the Meriwether Theatre, the classic red barn located right on the Sacajawea Center property. Family and friends filled the theatre seating as the two stood together below, making the ceremony feel intimate while still giving everyone a perfect view of such an important moment.

And then came possibly one of the shortest wedding ceremonies I have ever photographed.

Hannah’s youngest brother, Kota, had the honor of marrying them, which made the ceremony even more personal. There is something incredibly special about having someone who knows and loves you be the person standing beside you as you make those promises to one another. The ceremony was short, sweet and completely fitting for the laid-back feeling of the day.

They also incorporated a traditional tying ceremony, adding another meaningful element to their vows and creating one of those little moments that makes a wedding feel uniquely yours.

One of my absolute favorite details of Hannah and Andrew’s wedding, though, happened long before everyone sat down to eat.

They cooked the food. All of it.

Hannah and Andrew love cooking for the people they love, so naturally, when it came time to feed everyone at their wedding, they did exactly that. Instead of handing that part of the day over to someone else, they prepared the meal for their own guests. There is something so wonderfully personal about that.

Food has always been one of the ways we take care of people. We gather around it, celebrate over it, share stories over it and use it to show love without necessarily having to say anything at all. Knowing that Hannah and Andrew had put their own time and care into making a meal for the people who came to celebrate them made dinner feel like more than just another part of the wedding timeline. It felt like an extension of who they are.

The day itself may have been one of the hottest days of the summer, but even the heat couldn’t put a damper on the celebration. Guests found the shade when they could, everyone embraced the summer weather, and as the evening continued, the dance floor came alive, especially thanks to the kids.

The kids absolutely loved the music and filled the dance floor, dancing without a care in the world. There is something about kids at weddings that makes everything feel a little more fun. They don’t worry about whether anyone is watching, whether they know the right dance moves, or whether they look ridiculous. They just dance.

And on Hannah and Andrew’s wedding day, they definitely did.

Hannah looked absolutely beautiful in an embroidered wedding dress that fit the feeling of the entire day perfectly. It was detailed without being overdone, unique without trying too hard, and beautiful in that effortless way that seemed to carry throughout the entire wedding. That may be what I loved most about this day.

Everything was incredibly beautiful, but nothing felt like it was there simply for the sake of being impressive. Sometimes weddings can become so focused on all the things we think we are supposed to have that it is easy to forget what everyone actually came for.

This day felt like a reminder.

A beautiful place. A meaningful ceremony. Good food made with love. Kids running around and taking over the dance floor. Family laughing together. Friends who feel more like family. People sitting around tables, visiting, eating, celebrating, and simply enjoying being together.

Nothing needed to be bigger. Nothing needed to be more elaborate.

Because when you have your people gathered around you and the person you love standing beside you, you already have the most important parts.

Hannah and Andrew’s wedding was warm in more ways than one, wonderfully relaxed, beautifully simple, and completely full of love.

And sometimes, those are the wedding days that stay with you the most.
