As an Idaho family photographer, one of my favorite parts of sessions is showcasing the beauty of this region. The cliffs are a client favorite for a reason. With their dramatic edge overlooking the Salmon River, the views are simply unmatched. The golden hues of the landscape combined with the winding river below create an authentic East Idaho experience. Of course, we had to make this stunning backdrop happen for Jessica and her family.
It was a chilly day, but the Millers came prepared. Blankets and hot chocolate were on hand, and I provided some Hot Hands for their pockets to add a little extra comfort in the brisk 30-degree weather. Even with the cold, the session was full of warmth, laughter, and memorable moments.
Kinley and Kamry were a joy to photograph. Their energy was contagious, and they had us laughing the entire time. These two are seasoned picture takers—they knew exactly how to strike a pose and flash their best smiles. Their sass and giggles added so much personality to the session.
Luke, the youngest, needed a little more time to adjust to the cold and unfamiliar surroundings. Between the chilly air and the cactus scattered across the cliffs, he wasn’t sure what to think at first. But everything changed when we moved down to the Salmon River.
At the river, Luke came alive. He absolutely loved throwing rocks into the water, and his joy was evident in every photo we captured. Watching him explore and connect with the environment was heartwarming. The combination of the cliffs and the river gave the Millers a gallery that truly embodies the essence of Salmon, Idaho.
Next time, maybe we’ll add the mountains to their collection of memories. I’m so grateful to have shared this day with the Miller family and to have documented moments that reflect the beauty of their bond and the landscapes that feel like home.
